The inscription reads "OPTIME MAXIME CON (serva) NUMERUM OMNIUM MILITANTIUM". Translation: "Optimus Maximus (= Jupiter, symbolized by the eagle in the center of the disc) protect the cohort of soldiers". This type of mount appears from Denmark to Syria and was quite common in the Roman Empire. Original made from tinned brass. Fits a belt width of 6 cm / 2.3 inches.

These plates were found together at the fort at Augst (AUGUSTA RAURICA), Switzerland and were made of thinly stamped sheet brass and then tinned. The replica is casted and therefore a bit thicker on the backside. Also available in the original technique, but more expensive. For a belt width of 4 cm.

In an old Roman well the remains of a Roman soldier have been discovered, complete with sword, belt, purse and brooch. The letters are forming the wish "Utere Felix" (use it luckily). The letters "U" and "T" at the beginning are combined into one letter. Original made from tinned brass. Fits a belt width of 2.7 cm / 1.1 inches.
